Hopefully, you all had the chance to go over report cards with your child last night. Remember, if you ever have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s grade, we encourage you to contact us. You can email us anytime or call us during our planning time (12:45-1:45). If you feel the need to speak to us in person, we can set up a conference. Our primary goal is the success of your child.
As the new 9 weeks begins, please continue to encourage your child to read, read, read. Reading is a critical skill that your child will use throughout the rest of their life. Listen to them read and allow them to retell the story from memory. This is a good way to check and make sure they are not only reading, but understanding what they are reading. In addition to AR, allow them to read magazines, newspapers, comic books, etc. We want them to LOVE reading.
Also, make sure to check your child’s assignments each night. If they tell you they are completed, ask to see their work. Hold them accountable. I would love to say that missed assignments are declining as the year progresses, but for some, they seem to be increasing.
Finally, tonight’s homework is as follows:
Reading: read 20 minutes and log
LA: spelling test and WS due Friday
Science (Shelby): completed ABC book due Friday
Math: study facts
Music: test tomorrow
*Return Ag Day permission slips for tomorrow’s trip. Without a form, your child will stay at school. No one will not be allowed to call home. Because of inclimate weather, Ag Day has been moved to the National Guard Armory.
*Spring picture orders are due TOMORROW! If you do not want them, please send them back. We must get these sent to Lifetouch ASAP.
*Friday will be a normal day of school. If your child will be out, it is their responsibility to collect their work and complete it in a timely manner. It will be due upon their return.
*Absences/tardies: Keep in mind that when your child misses school, he/she misses quality instruction time. Even when they complete their make-up work, they have missed lessons that give a better understanding of the content. We have 2 (1 hour) blocks of math each afternoon. Since we cannot send math work home, it is very easy for your child to fall behind in this subject. Please try your hardest to get your child to school each day when they are well.
Have a great afternoon
…2 more days until Spring Break
